About Insurance Calculators UK
Insurance Calculators UK is a free set of tools that help you make sense of UK insurance. Most people buy cover once a year, click through a comparison site, and hope they've picked the right level. These calculators are here to help you understand the numbers behind those decisions — before you commit.
What this site does
We build clear, mobile-friendly calculators for car, life, home, pet, business and travel insurance. Each one is designed to answer a real question: how much cover might I need, is a higher excess worth it, what's my no-claims discount worth, am I underinsured? Every tool shows its workings, states its assumptions, and explains what the result means in plain English.
What this site doesn't do
We don't sell insurance, and we're not a comparison site. We don't give regulated financial advice, and we never tell you which policy to buy or predict whether an insurer will accept you. We don't ask for medical details or sensitive personal information. Our results are estimates to inform your thinking — not quotes, and not a substitute for advice tailored to your circumstances.
How the calculators are built
Every calculator uses a transparent formula and a set of clearly-stated assumptions, which we keep in the open rather than hiding behind a black box. Where a figure comes from an official source — such as HMRC for Insurance Premium Tax — we cite it. Where we use a rule of thumb or an illustrative range, we say so, and we make it adjustable so you can use your own numbers. We review the assumptions regularly and show a “last reviewed” date on every page.

Plain English, no hype, and no scare tactics. We won't tell you something is “guaranteed” or “the cheapest”, because in insurance that depends entirely on your circumstances and the policy wording. Our job is to help you understand your options clearly enough to have a better conversation with your insurer, broker or adviser.
